I am quite surprised that I finished, Uglies by, Scott Westerfeld today and I just started on Wednesday. The only time I read this book was before bed and some hours during work (when it's slow). I wasn't expecting to finished this book by the end of this week. It was a very quick read, there were parts that I couldn't put it down and then there were parts that I wanted to quickly read through it.
I'm way behind on this book, I'm sure many of you have read this book therefore, I don't think I need to do a quick synopsis of, Uglies.
Like I was saying this is a really quick read but for some reason the two main characters, Tally and David wasn't winning me in. By the end of the book I found myself more of a Shay person. Maybe it's just me but I felt that David and Tally's relationship went a little too fast and I found it quite odd how David was sharing secrets with Tally and keeping the secrets away from everyone who has been in the Smoke longer than she has. I know, David gave his reasons why he trusted her but he's character to me was kind of weak and girlie at times. Maybe it's just me again but I didn't feel like I connected with Tally or David at all.
I'm not going to say a lot about this book since, like I said has been out for a while now and many of you has read it. Just thought I'll give you guys my thought on this book. I'm not sure if I want to continue book number two which is, Pretties. Tally to me was a little bit selfish and kind of annoying to me and, David also...
But I was really looking forward to reading, Uglies because I heard so many great reviews on it. I mean it's has a good and strong storyline, it's just the characters didn't do it for me.
I also finished, Divergent (it's also another dystopian book) and cannot wait to start, Insurgent, which is the second book.
Divergent is also another quick read for such a thick book. Veronica Roth, did a great job giving these characters their own different personalities and I loved the characters, Tris and Four. I felt I can connect and understand the characters. There wasn't much romance but then I don't really think this book needs much of a love story going on.
I'm going to admit it at first I wasn't pulled into the story but I kind of liked, Beatrice (the main character who later changes her name to Tris) I thought she was a strong and tough character and after a while I was just really sucked into the book. I love how I felt like I'm apart of the story right there with, Tris the whole time cheering her own and helping her. Totally on the edge of my seat with this book.
Oh yeah, Four (the male lead character) is pretty awesome and hot but I'm just not really into guys with tattoo... sorry Four :(
Can't wait for my next read!
Happy Saturday and have a good evening!
